Overview

Blade V8

The ZTE Blade V8 isn’t a big name, but it’s a whole lot of phone for very little money.

You get a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 screen with a pixel density of 424 pixels per inch, making it just as sharp as the iPhone 8 Plus and only a little smaller.

You also get a slim 7.7mm thick metal shell, giving this phone surprisingly good and premium looks for something that costs well under £200 SIM-free.

Even more exciting is the ZTE Blade V8’s camera, which is a dual-lens one with a 13MP lens alongside a 2MP one. That allows it to blur the background of shots, creating a bokeh effect, and also to combine two images for a 3D effect – two features you usually have to pay far more to get.

There’s also a really rather good 13MP front-facing camera, complete with its own flash, so your selfies can look just as good as your other shots.

And the ZTE Blade V8 has a fingerprint scanner, plus an octa-core chipset, 2GB of RAM and a 2730mAh battery – good for a heavy day of use.

There’s also a microSD card slot so you can expand on the 16GB of built-in storage, and it runs Android Nougat, so its software is almost on the latest version. All in all that makes it one of the best value phones around. In most cases you’ll have to spend at least £50 more to get something better.
